A few simple ingredients are enough for unforgettable flavour. The taste of the past, engraved on our hearts.
Rina and Nanni, a love to last a lifetime.
True love, born in a small town in Veneto and nourished with delicious, fresh and authentic food. Like the gnocchi, bigoli and tagliatelle that Rina – who later became a nonna – cooked for her children and grandchildren. These live on in our Nonna Rina specialities, where tradition still has the same flavour.
More than 70 years ago in the sunny Treviso countryside, a lovely dark-haired girl named Rina fell in love with a young man from her village: Giovanni, known as Nanni.
Rina could certainly not be called shy, but it was a different time, and in those days the man had to speak first. So all she could do was wait and hope… One day she confided in her mother. “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!” were her mother’s wise words. So the enterprising Rina set to work: she got up early every day and started cooking. By lunchtime, her table was loaded with steaming pates of gnocchi, tagliatelle and tortellini dressed with everything the season and the land could offer.
As Giovanni came home from the fields with an empty stomach, he would pass her window and be transfixed by the smell of her cooking. Rina would watch him from behind the curtain, waiting for her moment.
And the moment arrived: one Thursday the gnocchi with cheese smelled so delicious he couldn’t resist. As he approached the door, Rina opened it, saying: “Sior Nanni, today I’ve cooked far too many gnocchi; will you do me a favour?”
From the kitchen to the altar was a short step. Rina understood that tasty food, prepared with love, has the power to bring people together. So she continued to cook for her husband, children and grandchildren.
A passion for well-made things Close attention to every phase of production. Huge respect for genuine tradition.
Nonna’s secret is encapsulated in a few simple actions and a love for people, the environment and authenticity. A story of flavour handed down through the generations.
The fragrance that greets you as you enter the kitchen. The smile of someone who loves you. Nonna is a memory of affection and wonderful food.
